At Redeemer we mark Ash Wednesday with a Lenten Service of Prayer and Repentance where through song, scripture, and prayer we will enter together into the Lenten pattern of death and resurrection, which is really the pattern for the whole Christian life.  There will be an extended time of confession of sin, and, this year, instead of coming forward to receive the sign of ashes to mark our mortality, we will receive the anointing with oil to mark our hope in the One who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases (Ps. 103:3).
